Tucked away between Capitol Hill, Alamo Placita, Speer, and Cheesman Park is the charming and sought-after Governers Park neighborhood. Streets are lined with homes and buildings built over a century ago. Bordered by South Broadway, 8th Avenue, Clarkson Street, and 3rd Avenue, the Governors Park community is a small, close-knit community of residents and beloved businesses that make living in the city feel quasi-suburb.

One of the oldest spots in Denver, walking around Governors Park can feel like an episode of your favorite sitcom; everyone knows your name. Independent businesses both old and new are around every corner, and within a couple of blocks, everywhere in the neighborhood is easily accessible.

The night life is plenty in the Governors Park area. With restaurant-bars like Logan Street, Vesper Lounge, Denver Sweet, and The Fainting Goat, your next night out on the town is just around the corner. Carboy Winery at 7th and Logan is an urban winery with carefully selected high-quality wines from Colorado and around the world. Multiple craft breweries are also in the area, like Baere Brewing at Broadway and 3rd, Banded Oak Brewing Company at Broadway and 5th, Counter Culture Brewery and Grille on 7th and Sherman, and Lowdown Brewery & Kitchen at Lincoln and 8th.

Family-owned and independent restaurants are cornerstone of the neighborhood making date-night or a night out with friends a local event. Stop in for a bite at Odyssey Italian Restaurant, Uno Mas Taqueria, Fontana Sushi, or brunch at Ivy on 7th. There is plenty to do in Governors Park neighborhood, with a walkability score of 94, and a bike score of 99! Grab some snacks at Trader Joes and set up a picnic at the Governors Park – the park, take a bike ride to the Denver Art Museum, get a haircut at Indie Six Hair and Makeup Studio, venture to South Broadway for some music at the Hi Dive, grab a coffee and a book at Mutiny Information Café, or drink a beer to some heavy metal at TRVE Brewing Co.

Walk (25 min) or bike (9 min) to Cheesman Park and join a game of pick-up soccer or volleyball. Neighboring Capitol Hill has local favorites like Wax Trax Records, Kilgore Books, and City ‘O’ City. Bike (20 min) to City Park for Jazz in the Park throughout the summer. The RiNo Art District is a short drive (15 min) or bike ride (33 min) through the city. Denver Country Club is also just around the corner. Other nearby neighborhoods include Alamo Placita, Central, and Baker.
