First Friday is coming up, and as the art scene in Denver expands, so do the artsy opportunities! Whether you’ve lived here for years, just moved to the Mile High City, or just visiting for the weekend, there are plenty of ways to paint the town on this frosty February First Friday.
Here are our top 5 favorite happenings:
(in no particular order)
1. Underwater: Art Opening in RiNo Art District
Opening reception for collective contemporary artworks exploring the world Underwater, from literal, personal, financial, and environmental perspectives. 7-10pm at 3240 Larimer St.

2. First Friday Five Points Jazz Hop
Live jazz every First Friday happens all over the Five Points area, and our favorite Five Points coffee spot, Coffee At The Point, is hosting the Stu McKaskie Trio starting at 5:30pm.
3. Lonely Hearts Art Show: First Friday
Local artist Jordan Lyn presents a new body of embroidered Fiber Art at Balefire Goods from 6-8pm in Arvada. Illustrating feeling and connectedness through song, she takes each viewer through the experience of lyrical expression.

4. First Friday Dance Party at Tracks
Tracks nightclub hosts the Venus dance party in RiNo, and all are welcome!
5. First Friday Reception for “Elements” at D’art Gallery
Contemporary artists Gabrielle Shannon and Jean Smith host a reception for their February exhibition “Elements”, a show celebrating nature through ceramics and paint on canvas. The reception is from 5-9pm at D’Art Gallery.

This Wash Park hot spot hosts 5 galleries and multiple participating restaurants and retailers displaying art on First Fridays (April-November).
8. 40 West Arts
Along West Colfax lives one of the cities coolest emerging art scenes, with dozens of public art installations, murals, galleries, and First Friday openings.
