Central Park, previously known as Stapleton, is a Denver destination with open space trails, public parks, restaurants, shopping centers, and pedestrian-oriented neighborhoods. Located just east of downtown Denver, the Central Park neighborhood is the former site of the decommissioned Stapleton International Airport, which closed in 1995. City planners and builders envisioned for the airport space to become a pedestrian-friendly community, with plenty of public spaces and goals to house over 30,000 people in 12,000 new homes. They have since grown to a community with 12 sub-neighborhoods, and created the 80-acre Central Park which the neighborhood was named after.

Central Park is home 50 parks, 7 pools, and 11 public / private schools including the Denver School of Science and Technology. Bluff Lake Nature Center and Sand Creek Regional Greenway border Central Park neighborhood on the east side, and North Park Hill is to the west. The Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum is to the south, and the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge is neighboring Central Park to the north east.

Local shops like Aspen Lane gifts and Datura Home decor are a must when you’re spending the day in Central Park. Breweries like Station 26 Brewing Co, Fiction Beer Company, and Cheluna Brewing Company make the best beers in the area, and you can’t miss local restaurants like Nextdoor American Eatery or Cattivella Italian. The Stanley Marketplace is just minutes south of Eastbridge Central Park, and features resident award-winning eateries such as Annette Scratch-to-Table, Chook Charcoal Chicken, and Rosenberg’s Bagels.

Shopping centers and local businesses are plenty throughout this Denver sweet spot, including the Eastbridge Shopping Center in the North East corner, the shops around the Founders Green off of 29th Avenue, and the Shops at Northfield just north of I-70.

The Central Park Farmers Market takes place every Sunday throughout from June 6th through October 10th at the Founders Green (29th & Roslyn), featuring local farms, bakers, restauranteurs, and businesses.

The Founders Green also hosts a variety of outdoor events throughout the warmer months, including the Outdoor Movie Series on Fridays (June-August), the MoJaBlu Outdoor Concerts and Jazz Series on Thursdays (June-August), and Active Minds free outdoor classes taught by experts every other Thursday.

Central Park neighborhood is the largest neighborhood within the city limits of Denver. The RTD A-Line connects Denver’s Union Station in downtown Denver to the Central Park Station, and further connects to Denver International Airport. Central Park also has easy access to the I-70 and I-270 highways, just 15 minutes east of downtown Denver.
